Today’s post is the third in a series of reviews of delivered-to-your-door 3-day juice cleanses from companies that offer nationwide delivery on their fresh juices.
Last weekend’s juice cleanse came to me courtesy of Ritual Cleanse, based out of Irvine, California. Ritual Cleanse uses a hydraulic press to extract their juices with very little heat or friction. Their slogan is “Made from plants, not manufactured in one,” which I love!
Last Friday through Sunday, I completed their 3-day Seasonal Reset juice cleanse program.
Arrival: The package was delivered at 9:15am, having been sent with overnight shipping in an insulated box. The contents of the box were tossed around a bit, but everything arrived intact and extremely well-chilled.
The round bottles can’t be stacked on top of one another, but I had cleared plenty of space in my fridge for them, so it was no problem.
Options: When ordering a Ritual Cleanse, you choose between the Classic Reset or the Seasonal Reset. I did the Seasonal Reset, which replaces one of the four green juices in the Classic Reset with a seasonal fruit juice.
Each Reset contains a pre-selected set of 6 daily juices (i.e. you don’t have the option to choose individual juice flavors.) Each bottle is labeled with a number to indicate the order in which you should drink them. Beyond that, you get to decide how quickly and at what times of day you drink each of them.
Variety: Although you’re not able to choose your individual drinks on each day of the Classic or Seasonal Reset cleanse, you do have the option to add their “Shred” component – a pair of drinks for especially active people, one (an energizing root juice) to drink before a workout and one (a protein-rich almond milk) to drink afterward – to any or all of the days. I didn’t try those, myself, but they sound great!
Reset 1: spinach, romaine, kale, celery, cucumber, green apple, lemon
Each day of the cleanse begins with this green juice. It lands right in the middle of the sweetness spectrum for me—sweet enough to be enjoyable to the last sip, but not so sweet that you feel like you’re drinking pure fruit juice. In my eyes, this made it pretty perfect—and that’s a very good thing, because as you’ll see, there were two more drinks just like it each day.
Reset 2: strawberries, watermelon, green apple, young coconut water, lime
Speaking of drinking pure fruit juice, the second daily juice is the “seasonal” part of the Seasonal Reset. I was so excited to find this craveworthy blend was my mid-morning treat each day. I can’t even tell you how incredible this juice is—except to say that it is, hands down, the best juice of any kind I’ve ever tasted. Can I order a gallon of this, please?!
Reset 3: spinach, romaine, kale, celery, cucumber, green apple, ginger
This third juice of the day was identical to the first, except with ginger in place of lemon. Equally delicious!
Reset 4: alkaline water, lemon, raw agave, cayenne pepper
The fourth juice was this Master-Cleanse-esque lemonade drink. It wasn’t too spicy, and it provided a nice citrusy interlude between green drinks.
Reset 5: spinach, romaine, kale, celery, cucumber, green apple
The fifth juice each day was identical to the first and third, except without lemon OR ginger. Once again, it was tasty and refreshing.
Reset 6: raw cashews, vanilla bean, raw agave, filtered water
The cashew milk was the only drink of the day that I didn’t fall in love with. It wasn’t as smoothly blended as I expected, and it was unstrained, so I was surprised by the grittiness (but a quick whirl in the Vitababy took care of that). Although I wish they’d use dates to sweeten this drink instead of agave, the flavor of the milk was mild and pleasant, and not overly sweet.
Extras: Ritual Cleanse includes a handy little insulated tote bag (featuring a zip top, side pocket, and stable bottom panel) to keep your juices chilled while you’re on the go. It’s roomy, too—you could fit a whole day’s worth of juice inside it. They also send you reusable ice packs that you can place in the bag with your juices.
Cost: Ritual Cleanses cost $80 a day plus shipping (which costs $60 per 3-day cleanse). This brings the total price of a 3-day cleanse to $300, or $100 per day.
(Full disclosure: Ritual Cleanse sent me this cleanse “on the house.”)
Support: Ritual Cleanse sends you an email with pre-cleanse guidelines and offers unlimited email support with your cleanse.
How to Order: Online. They deliver nationwide, but local pickup or delivery (which is cheaper) is available in Orange, San Diego, and Los Angeles counties.
Final thoughts: All of Ritual Cleanse’s juices are yummy and satisfying, and the bright flavor of their green juice is truly excellent. I do wish their cashew milk were smoother and more naturally sweetened, but it still made a great “dessert” each night. I appreciate that they make the nutritional info of their drinks available on their site, and they were very responsive via email, even over the weekend. The price is awfully steep, but I was happy with my experience overall, and would recommend the Seasonal Reset especially—I’m telling you, that strawberry-watermelon juice is simply to-die-for!
