Today’s post is the fifteenth in a series of reviews of juice cleanses from companies that offer home delivery on their fresh, raw juices.
This juice cleanse came to me courtesy of Love Grace Foods, based out of New York. Love Grace Foods cold-presses all their organic juices with minimal heat and friction, preserving the vitamins and enzymes within.
I recently completed a 3-day Love Grace Foods juice cleanse program.
Arrival: The package was delivered around 2pm on the day of delivery. It was sent with overnight shipping in an insulated box, but only guaranteed delivery before 3pm.
The contents of the box were snugly and securely packed.
I had cleared plenty of space for the bottles in my fridge. Since they’re square-shaped, they can be stacked on top of one another if needed.
Options: Love Grace Foods offers one 3-day cleanse program containing a pre-selected set of six daily juices. Their website indicates the order in which you should drink them, but beyond that, you get to decide how quickly and at what times of day you drink each of them.
Variety: Every drink of the day is different, AND the selection varies slightly day-by-day, with a different smoothie each day as well as alternating Super Ciders/Longevity Tonic. I really enjoyed the variety in this cleanse, since most cleanses have the same drinks every day.
Purify: coconut water, celery, chard, spinach, cucumber
Pure refreshment! This green juice gets its sweetness from electrolyte-rich coconut water, which gives it a completely different flavor from any other green juice I’ve ever tried. I loved it.
Ginger Bomb: lemon, ginger
Whoooooo-whee! This little guy BURNS! Made of pure ginger juice+lemon juice, this tiny tonic packs a powerful, immune-boosting punch. Fair warning: you might want to have a tall glass of water nearby as a “chaser.”
Longevity Tonic: lemon, shilajit, cayenne, agave, himalayan sea salt
This is a very unique take on the “Master Cleanse lemonade” drink you see in many juice cleanses. Shilajit is a substance purported to have anti-aging benefits, and cayenne is intended to stoke the metabolism. It’s quite sweet from the agave, but they also didn’t shy away from the cayenne, so it’s fiery, too!
Super Cider: apple, carrot, ginger, lemon
This sweet-and-simple juice is quite zingy from the ginger, but nicely balanced, with a slight emphasis on the apple flavor.
Green Sunshine: chard, kale, spinach, celery, cucumber, apple, lemon
This classic green juice combo is fairly strong, but well-executed, with enough apple to take the edge off. It’s definitely produce-packed, and is probably the most healthful (and lowest-sugar) juice of the day.
Restore: carrot, beet, celery, cucumber, parsley, spinach, lemon, orange
This ruby-red juice is actually sort of a green juice in disguise, but it includes the blood-building benefits of beets. It is very beet-y, so if you’re not a big beet fan, you might want to do what I did: save 1/4 of your Super Cider, chug 1/4 of the Restore, and then pour the Super Cider into the Restore and shake it up. This’ll dilute the beet flavor a tad and make the juice slightly sweeter!
Each day of the cleanse includes one non-juice drink. In other cleanses, this tends to be a nighttime nut milk, but in Love Grace Foods‘ cleanse, you’re treated to a different smoothie every single day!
Green Protein Smoothie: banana, flaxseed, kale, dates, spirulina, hempseed, chia seed, coconut oil, lemon, himalayan sea salt, wheatgrass powder
Whoa! That’s a whole lots of chlorophyll-rich green goodness packed into one bottle. It also contains healthy fats from the seeds and coconut oil to keep you satisfied longer. It is rather green-tasting, so don’t expect a very fruity smoothie, but it clearly packs a nutrient wallop.
Probiotic Smoothie: banana, flaxseed, almond, lemon, dates, vegan probiotic, himalayan sea salt, coconut oil
What a unique drink! Thoughtfully infused with a nondairy probiotic to repopulate the gut bacteria that are often depleted on juice cleanses, this banana-almond milk smoothie is a little on the “flaxy” side, flavor-wise, but is sweet and enjoyable.
Chocolate Superfood Smoothie: banana, goji berry, cacao, maca, vanilla bean, dates, coconut oil, flaxseed, himalayan sea salt
Ooh la la…hello, decadence! This was my favorite of the smoothies. It’s quite tangy from the raw cacao, gojis, and maca, but also sweet from the banana and dates. It’s a thick, rich, and indulgent way to end the day.
Extras: Love Grace Foods keeps it simple, sending you all juice and nothing but the juice.
Cost: Love Grace Foods cleanses cost $56 a day. This brings the total price of a 3-day cleanse, excluding shipping or delivery, to $168.
Regarding delivery/shipping: Love Grace Foods offers free pickup (at multiple locations) and local hand delivery (for $10) in New York City. They can also ship nationwide, with prices dependent upon location. Email them at firstname.lastname@example.org for a personalized shipping quote.
(Full disclosure: Love Grace Foods sent me this cleanse “on the house.”)
Support: Love Grace Foods sends you a pre-cleanse email containing information, tips, and guidelines, and they offer unlimited email support with your cleanse.
How to Order: Online.
Final Thoughts: This Love Grace Foods cleanse has a lot of out-of-the-ordinary things to offer: a rotating variety of drinks each day, superfood smoothies instead of nut milks, and a concentrated “tonic shot” in place of a mid-morning juice, to name a few. Everything was yummy-tasting, with the green juices standing out as being particularly stellar. Nutrition facts are listed on every bottle, which I always like. And all the drinks are 100% organic, yet this cleanse is actually more affordable than others, especially if you live in the NYC area. There’s lots to love about Love Grace Foods!
